In this work Julia played with solid shapes and forms to create contrast to the colour and flowing shapes of a garden. Mustard Yellow Stack is part of Julia’s collection of ceramic sculptures which take on a variety of forms; some nod to the fluid, convivial shapes of anime, whilst others appear more gestural and symbolic.

Julia’s starting point is always found in the natural world, a relationship which comes full circle when her pieces are placed in an outdoor setting. Their vivid glazes bring plant colours into greater focus and their abstract forms echo the organic shapes around them.

Each edition of Mustard Yellow Stack is carefully handmade in Julia’s studio and will have its own unique variations. This piece is available in other colours and sizes. Please enquire for bespoke options.
