The Daybed Company

Furniture Designer and Maker

The Daybed Company was co-founded by Freddy Williams and his partner Chippy, who run the business from their garden workshop in East Sussex.  Growing up, Freddy’s father had ‘charpoys’ (the Indian name for daybed, loosely meaning four legs) in their garden, which Freddy describes “using everyday and being a talking point amongst visitors.

“With these memories in mind I was keen to develop what my father had started, and learn the traditional weaving technique.” Before venturing into woodwork Freddy worked in the publishing industry. He then moved on to work in higher education, teaching typography and letterpress at both Camberwell School of Art and Kingston University.
