Alice-Andrea Ewing

Artist and Sculptor

Alice’s bronze mobiles form an integral part of our first sculpture collection. The British artist was drawn to working with Them Outdoors because of the idea of presenting her work outside for the first time. “Bronze has its own reaction to the elements, works are entirely transformed by a life outside” she says. “This in itself is an exciting prospect.”

“There has been a large and creative resurgence of craft in the UK” she continues, “with a wonderful dedication to collaboration and the collection of handmade works for inside one’s home. I loved the idea of working in a similar way with the garden or outdoor space as the end point for a work or idea.”

Alice works from her studio and foundry in rural Suffolk. After reading History of Art at Cambridge University, she trained to cast using the Renaissance Lost Wax method in an atelier studio context. In 2016 Alice established her own studio and foundry. Alice has produced work for Loewe, The Newt and Heckfield Place, and her work has been featured widely in galleries and magazines.
